This freaky video was sent to me recently by a devoted reader. For those of you who don't have the time to watch it, it's basically a farmer and his wife singing about how Adam and Steve the Hogs Can't Make Piglets, Ergo Brad and Steve Shouldn't Do the Nasty. It's kind of funny in a horrific sort of way. (Why is it that people who love Jesus are so often so scary?)
That said, the argument that homosexuality is wrong because it's unnatural always slays me. The cornpokes who sing in the video sing about how hens don't get it on with hens and mares don't get it on with mares, so therefore blah blah. I'm not even sure it's true that there are no same-sex barnyard couplings--all I have are two neutered cats--but what if it is? Roosters also don't get blow jobs, sows don't use birth control, and an adolescent dog wouldn't think twice about fucking his sister. Not to mention the many species that feed on their own young. Certainly no animal, male or female, would be caught dead in the unbelievably bad dress and god awful hairdo worn by the farmer's wife in the video.
If you want to castigate gay people, you're going to have to come up with something better that the accusation that it's "unnatural." Most of human life is unnatural, and all I can say to that is hallelujah.
Update: This just in, from Scientific American, no less: unnatural boofing in the wild (and even more frequently in the barns)!
